Adult Day Centre

The Langley Adult Day Program is operated by the Langley Senior Resources Society and is located in a new facility located at 20256 – 56th Avenue, Langley. The program provides specialized care and recreation for adults with physical and/or mental limitations who live alone or with family caregivers within the Langley area.

The program is primarily funded by the Fraser Health Region. Clients attending through Fraser Health require an assessment from a Fraser Health Case manager.  The Day Program also welcomes privately funded clients, those who do not quality for Fraser Health services, or those individuals who are funded through third party agencies such as ICBC, WCB and DVA.

Health Care

The Adult Day Program has a professional staff including:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Recreational Therapists
  • Activity Aides
  • Health Care Attendants
  • General health monitoring including blood pressure and medication monitoring.
  • Liaison with and referrals to other health care professionals including Fraser Health.
  • Assistance with personal care if needed
  • Bathing Assistance is available through our Community Bathing Program

 

Recreation

The recreation staff facilitates many different types of programs throughout the day for the clients that attend to enjoy. These include:

  • Bowling at Cloverdale Bowling Alley- Adapted wheelchair or seated bowling is available
  • Carpet Bowling
  • Osteo-fit exercises
  • Chair fitness
  • Interactive Wii games
  • Ceramics
  • Painting
  • Arts and crafts
  • Musical programs including sing-a-longs and entertainment
  • Gardening
  • Trivia and educational programs
  • Intergenerational programs
  • Animal visits
  • Trips and outings

 

Meals & Dietary

The wonderful dietary staff will provide you with a excellent meal while you attend the program.

Included in you day is:

  • Morning snack and beverage
  • Full hot lunch and dessert
  • Afternoon refreshment
  • All diet restrictions and special requests will be accommodated including diabetic diet, low sodium and lactose intolerant restrictions.
  • Take home meals are available for a nominal fee.

 

Transportation

The Day Program owns and operates two vans that are used for transportation to and from the centre and on outings. Staff will arrange transportation for your day either with our vans or through Handidart. There is a small charge for transportation that will be discussed with you at the time of your enrollment.

 

Care-givers Support Group

The demands and responsibilities of care giving can be overwhelming and very stressful. A support group helps to reduce these pressures and helps the caregiver cope.

The support group which is facilitated by the day program’s Registered Nurse is designed to support anyone caring for an adult family member or friend who suffers from a chronic disability (mental or physical)

Hydrosound Bathing Program

Do you have difficulties getting in and out of your bathtub? If so, the hydrosound bathing program is an option for you. What is hydrosound? Simply stated, hydrosound uses ultrasonic energy in water to create millions of microscopic bubbles which vibrate and cause a massaging action called ‘microstreaming.’ This advanced technology is more effective than whirlpool action for improving blood circulation, relaxing muscles and rejuvenating skin without the noise of a hot tub!

  • The tub is equipped with a lift chair and a staff member is in attendance at all times.
  • Assistance for undressing and dressing is available.
  • Bathing supplies including towels, hypo-allergenic shampoo and soap are provided.
  • Bathing appointments are booked in advance and each appointment is 45 minutes long.
